FERN M. CASTNER
PENN YAN — Fern M. Castner, 75, passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2008.


Family and friends may call on Feb. 1, 2008 at the Townsend-Wood Funeral Chapel, 201 E. Elm St., Penn Yan, NY  from 3 to 5 p.m.  Fern’s memorial service will immediately follow at 5 p.m.at the funeral home with Rev. Barbara Gifford officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Fern’s name to the Humane Society of Yates County, PO Box 726, Penn Yan, NY 14527.


Fern was born in Potsdam on Sept. 10, 1932, the daughter of  Mr. and Mrs. Walter Maxwell.  She loved her flowers and her cats.  Fern was always helped, loved, supported and will be missed by the Maxwell and Castner families and by all her friends and acquaintances through out the years.


She is survived by her sons Michael Castner (Donna Tiffany) of Canandaigua and Douglas Castner of Holley; her beloved cat Cuddles and her nanny Jaime; former daughter-in-law, Karen Castner and Andrea Johnson-Credit.  Fern is also survived by all of her friends and neighbors, as she considered them all family.

CASSIE DAVINO
DELHI — Cassie Davino, 19, died  January 19, 2008,  in a tragic auto accident.
Cassandra Rose Davino was born Aug.11, 1988, in Albany, the only child of Alan J. and Kathryn A. (Bullock) Davino, formerly of Penn Yan. Cassie was a lifelong Delhi resident, where she was a 2006 honors graduate at Delaware Academy.


Cassie was a soprano voice major at the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam. She was an honors student, on the President’s List for the three semesters she was in attendance there. She performed in numerous Delaware Academy plays and continued acting at Potsdam.


She will be missed forever by her loving parents. She is survived by several great uncles and aunts, in particular Camille Mastrocola, uncles Arthur Davino, Tom Bicksler, and Carl Bullock; aunts Sandie Swift, Mary Linger, and Shelley Bicksler, and several cousins, Jeffrey Egburtson, Tracey Bicksler, TJ Bicksler, Sarah Bullock, Mark Davino, and Danielle Davino.


A memorial service was held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb 2 at the United Ministry of Delhi.

THOMAS SMITH
RUSHVILLE — Thomas Smith,  32, died Sunday, January 27, 2008, at his home, surrounded by his loving wife and family.


Friends called Tuesday, Jan. 29 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Middlesex.


Rev. Joy Leet will officiate. Burial will be in Overackers Cemetery, with military honors by the Naples V.F.W. Honor Guard.


Memorial contributions may be made to the Middlesex Hose Company, of which Tom was a  member, P.O. Box 145, Middlesex, NY 14507; or to the Tim Smith Memorial, c/o Marcus Whitman Central School, 4100 Baldwin Rd., Rushville, NY 14544.


Tom was born in Canandaigua. He was a 1994 graduate of Marcus Whitman Central School. Tom married Terry Henderson on Jan. 22, 1994. He served in the U.S. Army from 1994 till 1996. Tom loved life and his family. He enjoyed computers, camping, reading, skiing, and golf.


Tom is survived by his wife, Terry; son, Aaron Michael Henderson; daughters, Regina Ann and Alycia Renee Smith; parents, Theresa and Thomas Smith; brothers, James (Deborah), Robert (Katharine) and Daniel Smith; grandparents, Roland and Janice Brink, and Doris Henderson; uncle, Billy Murray, aunt, Amy McLaughlin; father-in-law, Lewis B. (Annette) Henderson; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.


He was predeceased by his twin brother, Timothy; sister-in-law, Cynthia; and nephew, Kevin.
