    A Mother’s Day Breakfast to benefit the Keuka Kokanees Synchronized Swim Team will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. May 11 at the Johnson-Costello American Legion Post. Adults $6 and children under 12 $3.50.
    Touch of Brass
    On Pentecost Sunday, May 11, the First Presbyterian Church of Penn Yan's worship service at 10:30 a.m. will host a program of special music by the Touch of Brass Sacred Jazz Ensemble.

    Dundee Blood Drive
    A blood drive will be held at the Dundee American Legion  May 12 from 12:30-6:30 p.m. eligible donors are at least 17 years old, have not donated blood in the last 56 days and weigh 110 lbs. Each donor will receive a coupon for one free small ice cream cone from Seneca Farms.

    Communication Through The Stages
    Thompson Health will host a program, presented by the Alzheimer's Association, entitled "Communication Through the Stages" from 7 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14 in the M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center, 350 Parrish St., Canandaigua.

    The National?Alliance on Mental Illness Support Group (NAMI) will meet Wednesday, May 14 at 7 p.m. at Ontario CSS (Lakeview Mental Health) 611 Washington St., Geneva. NAMI provides support, education and advocacy for families and friends of persons suffering from chronic mental illness.
    Meet the Candidates
    The Penn Yan Parent Teacher Groups will sponsor a Meet the Candidates Night at 7 p.m. May 14 in the Penn Yan Elementary School cafeteria. The four candidates who are running for three seats on the board are incumbents Nancy Scher, Michael Van Wormer, Rennee Thayer and challenger Bret Boesen. The election will be held Tuesday, May 20.

    Yates County Photography Club
    The Yates County Photography Club will meet at 7 p.m. May 15 at the Gallery, 119 East Elm St., Penn Yan. The program will be an exhibit of photographs on CDs or DVDs brought in by members. These will be shown on the Gallery's projection screen. Anyone interested is welcome to attend.

    Parkinson Support Group
    The Finger Lakes Parkinson Disease Support group will meet at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 15 at the Schuyler County Human Services Complex at the intersection of Route 14 and 323 Owego St. in Montour Falls
    Attorney Dennis Morris will speak on the topic of Estate Planning. He will discuss wills, transfer of assets, health care proxy, and other relevant legal topics which affect one’s future health care, while protecting financial security of a surviving spouse. He is legal counsel to the Schuyler County Office for the Aging.     Hospital Auxiliary plans Plant Sale
     The Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is sponsoring a Plant Sale beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, May 16 in front of the hospital’s main entrance, 418 North Main St., Penn Yan.
     A variety of annuals will be available for $1.75 for a four-pack or $10 for six, four-packs, and geraniums will be sold for $2.75 each or $15 for six plants. Pre-orders may be made by calling Loree MacKerchar at 315-531-2053 by May 9 or anyone interested may stop by the hospital the morning of May 16 to make his or her selection.
    All proceeds from this sale will be used by the Auxiliary to support the Hospital’s upcoming renovation project.
    Rummage Sale
    A Rummage Sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, May 16 at the First Presbyterian Church, 211 Main St., Penn Yan. The sale will include tables of household items, tools, books, toys, linens, clothes and much more. After 2 p.m. purchase all you can stuff into a bag for $1.
    Preschool Story Time
    The Preschool Story time at Modeste Bedient Library in Branchport at 11 a.m. May 16 will feature Ducks. The library is located on Route 54A in Branchport.
    Kid’s Night Out
    The Dundee Area Youth Center will be having its third Kid’s Night Out!  On Friday, May 16 from 6:30-9 p.m. the Youth Center will be open for kids in grades 4-6.  There will be games, music and food available.  There will be a $1 charge to help cover the cost of food.   
    Sip and Socialize
    Sip and Socialize is held from 5 to 7 p.m. at Modeste Bedient Library on Route 54A in Branchport every Friday.

    Roast Pork Dinner
    The Seneca No. 9 Presbyterian church, Number Nine Road, Stanley, will hold a roast pork and dressing supper from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 17. The meal includes roast pork, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetable, rolls and pie. All homemade food. Take-outs available. The cost is $8 per adult and $4 per child under 12.

    Stamping Fun
    Stamping Fun classes continue at the Yates County Arts Center on Tuesday, May 20 from 5 to 7 pm. This is an intergenerational class led by Jan Enos. This will be repeated the third Tuesday of each month through November. These workshops showcase techniques to create greeting cards and other stationary-projects.     The Gu-Ya-No-Ga?Chapter NSDAR will meet Wednesday, May 21 at the Lakeside Country Club, Penn Yan at 11:45 a.m. for a luncheon. The speaker will be the Director of the Dundee Historical Society, Pam Miller, who will make a presentation on antique fans. Guests are welcome.
    League Luncheon to discuss Family Court Bill
    The Schuyler County League of Women Voters will host Georgia DeGregorio, Specialist on Domestic Violence for the NYS League of Women Voters at their May luncheon.  Why does the NYS Legislature say STOP to Expanded Access to Family Court bill when the rest of the country says Go?  She will explain proposed legislation to amend the Family Court Act and Criminal Procedure Law to provide equal access and equal civil and criminal protections to non-married, non-parent victims of domestic violence.   The luncheon will be held at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, May 21 at the Glen Motor Inn, Route 14, Watkins Glen.  Agencies, law enforcement and the legal system who work with victims of violence are encouraged to attend.  The luncheon cost is $12  and reservations should be made by May 14 by contacting Mary Barnes at 607- 535-4600 or Nancy Herzig at 607-535-6667.
    May Banquet
    The Yates County Office for the Aging will hold its May Banquet at 4 p.on May 21 at St. Michael’s Church in Penn Yan. The menu includes hors d’oeuvre and the choice of two entrees, Chicken Cordon Bleu or Shrimp Scampi over rice for dinner being served at 5 p.m.  The evening includes entertainment, door prizes, and a 50/50 raffle.  Tickets are available at the Office for the Aging for $7 through May 19 at noon. 
    Historical Society Luncheon
    The Yates County Genealogical and Historical Society presents a talk by Rich MacAlpine based on the Schofield family letters and entitled “Yates County’s Admiral: Frank H.     Finger Lakes Boating Museum Exhibit
    The Annual Finger Lakes Boating Museum Exhibit features boats made in the 19th and 20th centuries by Skaneateles boat builders.  They will be on display from through May 25 at the Glenn H. Curtiss Museum of early aviation and local history in Hammondsport.  Open daily from 10-4 through April 30. As of May 1, the museum is open Monday through Saturday from 9-5 and Sunday from 10-5.
