Arlin K. Weichenthal, died unexpectedly on Friday, Sept. 24, 2010 at F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua.
A graveside service was held on Sept. 28 at 11 a.m. at Little Church Cemetery, Gorham-Hall Rd., Hall. A luncheon was held at the Stanley Fire Hall on Rte. 245, following the service.

Arlin was born in St. Francis, Kansas in 1932 to Arlin, Sr. and Leona Weichenthal. He moved to the area with his family as a young child. Arlin was a graduate of Gorham High School in 1950. He was very active on both the school basketball and baseball teams. After a few years of farming, Arlin started in the grocery business, where he eventually worked his way up to be the store manager at Acme Market in Canandaigua for many years. He retired from Acme when the store closed in 1979. After his retirement, he worked for several years for Seneca Lake Country Club, keeping the greens pristine until an auto accident in 1988, which left him a quadriplegic for the remainder of his life. During his life he enjoyed owning several race horses which he raced at Finger Lakes and other tracks on the East Coast.
Arlin is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara M. Weichenthal; daughter, Cindy (Don) Beary, of Titusville, Fl.; son, Dale (Carolyn) Weichenthal of Victor; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Aaron) Gettings and Christopher (Sara) Weichenthal; his first great-grandchild, who is due in February 2011; sister Judy (Robert) Mader; and many nieces and nephews.
