Starkey drive-by shooter arrested
Starkey - Investigation into a road rage incident on Sunday, Sept. 19 on State Route 14 in the Town of Starkey has ended with the arrest of Juan C. Estevez-Santos of 114 S. Main St., Apt. 14, Newark on Sept. 24.
A report was received on Sept. 19 at approximately 7:10 p.m.of multiple gunshots fired inside vehicle. There were no injuries, but shots hit another vechile. Investigation by the Yates County Sheriff's Department, along with assistance from the Wayne County Sheriff's Department and Newark Police Department resulted in a search warrant being obtained and executed at the Estevez-Santos residence.
Evidence was seized and he was ultimately charged with criminal possession of a weapon (Class C Felony), criminal use of a firearm second degree (C-Felony) and reckless endangerment first degree (D-Felony). He was arraigned in Starkey Court and remanded to the Yates County Jail in lieu of $30,000 cash bail of $60,000 secured bond. He is to appear in Starkey Court at a later date.
Investigators Pat Manahan and Michael Christensen, Sgt. Frank Ryan and Deputy Kevin Crofoot were the investigating officers.
