The Barrington Town Board held its 2011 organizational meeting on Jan. 5.

Business included routine appointments and designations, along with:

SALARIES: The board approved the following salaries: Supervisor Fred Wright, $13,000; Councilmen Nate Olney, Ken Christensen, Bruce Castner and Calvin Crosby, $1,500 each (Christensen voted against his own salary, saying he would accept a salary of $750); Town Clerk Joy Perry, $28,325; Town Code Enforcement Officer, $20,200; Highway Superintendent Steven Wheeler, $45,019; Town Health Officer Karen Mead, $200; Assessor Tony DeStephen, $21,964; Assessor Aide Sally Leonard, $5,490; Town Justice Sue Lane $10,102; Justice Clerk Craig Lane, $2,122; Deputy Town Clerk Joyce Pierce, Planning Board Secretary and ZBA/Code Enforcement Secretary, each $10.82 per hour.

Five full time highway employee salaries were set, ranging from $12.50 to $17 per hour. A part time employee’s salary was set at $11.33 per hour. These salaries include increases that vary, explains Wright, but each includes a cost of living increase.
The other increase is in Wright’s salary, which was $10,000 annually.

APPOINTMENTS: Appointments included Olney as deputy supervisor; Sue Lang as chair of the planning board. She was appointed to serve on the Planning Board until Dec. 31, 2015. Robert Scharf was appointed to the Zoning Board of Appeals until Dec. 31, 2015.

MEETINGS: The board set regular town board meetings to be held the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. The next meeting will be held Jan. 26.
