  • In a special meeting of the Penn Yan Village Board at 9 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, Trustee Bart Winslow moved to accept the unconditional resignation of Village Clerk/Treasurer Shawna Wilber, effective Friday, Dec. 21. He added to the motion his thanks to her for her years of service. Mayor Bob Church commented, "She did a lot of nice things in the last six years." The motion was passed unanimously.
Before the board retired to executive session, Church declined to speculate as to the reason for Wilber's resignation. When asked about the search for her replacement, he said, "It won't be easy. Finding a person with knowledge of government accounting and municipal law is very difficult." Ms. Wilber could not be reached for comment.
An advertisement for the position asks for a minimum of a four year degree in accounting, strong administrative skills, and governmental accounting experience.   Mayor Church is seeking resumés by Jan. 15, deliverable to pymayor@gmail.com or by mail to Village of Penn Yan, 111 Elm St., Penn Yan, NY  14527
