  • Barrington burglar apprehended in N.C.

  • Louis E. Shearin III, 24, of 1914 Eaton Road, Rock Stream, was arrested Dec. 30 following investigation of a residential burglary that occurred mid-November in Barrington where cash and valuable coins were stolen.
    According to Lt. Todd Sotir of the Yates County Sheriff's Office, within days of the crime, Shearin fled the area for North Carolina.Police in Henderson, N.C. , acting on a warrant issued from Yates County, located Shearin in a hotel and took him into custody. He was found to be in possession of heroin, and was jailed in Henderson on that charge.
    Yates County Sheriff's deputies picked up Shearin in N.C. Dec. 30 and returned him here. He was arraigned in Benton Court on charges of second-degree burglary, second-degree grand larceny, and third-degree criminal mischief, then remanded to the Yates County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail or $200,000 bond.
    The investigation is ongoing, and further arrests are expected.
