This will be the group's 57th year of collecting funds for various valuable agencies who serve the Dundee area and Yates County. In the beginning, the fund drive was a door-to-door operation with many volunteers. In recent years, the community has been solicited thru mailings, the first of which went out around Sept. 7 and the bulk mailing on Sept. 25. The goal for 2013 is $26,500. As in the past years, if the goal is exceeded, the funds are forwarded directly to the agencies.
"We are proud to say that at least 97 percent of the donations are given to the agencies and less than 3 percent are used for cost to conduct the campaign," says volunteer Margaret Hanville
The present committee consists of volunteers representing various areas of Dundee with Alan Giles as president, Furman Kendall as treasurer and Joan Washburn as secretary.
"These three volunteers deserve appreciation for their service and dedication to the Dundee Community for over 20 years," says Hanville, adding, "We anticipate a successful campaign drive this year, any amount of donation is appreciated."
