Rod Blumenau and the Dixieland Four Jazz Band will perform at 6:30 p.m. July 26 at the Yates County Courthouse Lawn as the Yates Summer Concert series continues. The free concert is being sponsored by Mark and Deborah Malcolm and their business Century 21 Sbarra and Wells.

Rod Blumenau always “felt” the music and at the tender age of five started taking piano lessons. He moved on to clarinet and saxophone and now is well known in upstate New York as a composer, arranger, and jazz pianist. The rest of the band joins him with music styles of Dixieland, swing, bop, ragtime, funk and most any type of toe tapping jazz. Their talent is showcased through their ability to improvise during any part or selection of the piece that they may be performing. They have made several CD’s that are available for sale.

Bring a lawn chair for the outdoor concert. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held indoors at the First Baptist Church. The Arts Center of Yates County. For the enjoyment of children, the Penn Yan Public Library employees and community volunteers will offer organized activities.
