For 16 years the Wickham family has delighted families with Pick’n Patch adventure. This year visitors will enjoy a special attraction they can make a choice - go left, go right or down the middle.
“Vote America” is the theme for an 8-acre corn maze. Spanning more than two miles of twists, turns and deadends, acres of corn are planted in a design that depicts the Republican elephant and the Democratic donkey.
The Pick’n Patch hopes to remind folks to exercise their right and responsibility to vote while experiencing the unique good farmin’ fun in this A-Maizin labyrinth. As Drew Wickham says, “The winners get to go home.”
Visitors will have an opportunity to cast their presidential votes in an informal, unofficial straw (or should we say corn?) vote each Saturday and Sunday. Results will be posted each week on www.picknpatch.com (provided there are no hanging “chards.”)
Over the years hundreds of school children have visited the patch. Located on State Route 5&20 half way between Geneva and Canandaigua, there are loads of activities. Pumpkins, mums, fall decorations, farm animals, kiddie train riders, corn tunnels and refreshments delight visitors of all ages.
The Crow Chaser/Corn Cannon is a big attraction. Visitors can fire off this air powered cannon designed to shoot corn cobs more than 500 feet at crow targets. It’s safe and exciting.
Besides fresh, local grown products, the Pick’n Patch will be the only local place offering Spookley, the Square Pumpkin merchandise.
The Pick’n Patch and Giant Cornfield Maze is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., through Oct. 31. During the week the farm hosts educational field trips to preschool and elementary school students. For more information visit the website at www.picknpatch.com or call 585-526-6518.
