The Diamondback Rattlers boldly go where no one else goes. The popular band that played throughout the Northeast U.S.and Ontario during the mid-70’s and into the early 80’s, reunited in 1994 and they have kept "pickin' and a grinnin'” well into the new millennium.

The Yates Concert Series invites you to attend the series third concert on Wednesday, July 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Yates County courthouse lawn located at Main and Court streets in Penn Yan.

The quartet, whose memorable concerts have won the hearts of live music lovers wherever they have performed, plays their distinctive blend of Bluegrass music.  Filled with powerful vocals and harmonies, this group provides a rich mixture of influences, ranging from traditional and modern bluegrass, swing, country, Dixieland and a host of other music sources. The Rattlers are equally comfortable playing the straight, driving tunes of Flatt and Scruggs, firing the intricate rhythms of new acoustic music or poking fun at whatever seems a likely target. Whether the music is Bill Monroe’s, George Gershwin’s, or a Diamondback original concoction, there’s a chance you might hear it at this performance.

Bluegrass music reflects past and present rural life, Appalachian cultures, folklore, economic histories, family structures, spirituality, value systems, work ethic and many other aspects of culture.Bluegrass describes the power and beauty of America and its rich history.

The line-up entails Fiddler Dean Goble from Candor, Banjo Man Roy Mathews of Van Etten, flatpicker Marc Chevalier hailing from Horseheads, and Curt Albertalli from Dresden on the upright bass.

The Rattlers are a joy to listen to, fun to laugh with, and just the kind of band that brings folks back…again and again.

This concert is free and open to the public. Bring your own lawn chairs, as this is an outdoor concert. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held inside the adjoining Baptist Church. The Friends of the Outlet will provide intermission sales. There’s plenty of free parking and hospitality
