The Yates Concert Series, Inc. invites the public to attend the season finale of the Wednesday night summer concerts on the courthouse lawn located on Court and Main Streets in Penn Yan.
The last concert will be Wednesday, Aug. 18 beginning at 6:30 p.m.

A popular favorite, Bourbon Street Parade, returns to Penn Yan with enthusiasm.

Originally formed in Rochester in 1967, this band is known throughout the Finger Lakes for its popular old and new ballads with easygoing tempos, as well as its boisterous and swinging show tunes from Broadway shows.

Their music also includes tunes from church hymnals and New Orleans jazz.  Members of the band will relate stories of their musical adventures and may even teach concert goers some jazz history.
This band specializes in lively swinging music that sets toes tapping and fingers snapping.

They draw on Dixieland and traditional jazz standards as well as the blues, and anything with a rollicking beat.  The band member’s ages may be getting up there, but you would never know it to hear them play.

Most of them would agree that playing and listening to this wonderful music is a prescription for a long life.
The six member band is comprised of diverse backgrounds.

Al Bruno on bass is a jazzman from Manhattan.  George Baker, who sings and plays the trumpet, is an architect.  Peter Ferran, playing the clarinet is a professor of theatre.  John Beck on the drums has also been in the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.  Milo Tomonovich on piano is a legislator and attorney.  Dave Pierce, who plays trombone is a speech writer and public relations agent.

The concert is free and open to the public for its enjoyment.  Bring a lawn chair, as this is an outdoor concert.  In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held inside the adjoining Baptist church.  Featured intermission sales will be sponsored by the Kiwanis Club.

The Yates Concert Series committee thanks all the sponsors who made these concerts possible and everyone who took the time to see and enjoy this summer’s concert season.
