Navy opens up its 105th season of men’s lacrosse on Saturday afternoon, when it plays host to VMI. Action is set for noon at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
Saturday’s game will be streamed online via Navy All-Access with live stats available at www.NavySports.com. this week’s All-Access feed will be provided free of charge, however, the remainder of the season will be subscription based.
Navy will rely heavily upon veteran close defenseman Matt Vernam and senior goalkeeper RJ Wickham to manage the defense. Wickham, a former Penn Yan Mustang, who was a Tewaaraton Trophy nominee in 2010, is in his third season as a starter in goal.
In addition to the three Navy men’s lacrosse games scheduled to be nationally-televised by CBS Sports Network, next Sunday’s Navy vs. Jacksonville contest will be televised on the newly-launched NBC Sports Network, formerly known at Vs. it was announced on Thursday. The Navy-Jacksonville game is the second of two games that comprise the Moe’s Southwest Classic that will be played on Feb. 19 at EverBank Field, home of the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars. Denver and Ohio State square off at 2 p.m., followed by the Mids and Dolphins at 4 p.m.
CBS Sports Network will broadcast Navy home games against Lehigh on March 30 7 p.m. and Johns Hopkins on April 21 at noon, while also televising one of the most storied rivalries in all of college sports, the Army-Navy game on April 14 which will be played at noon at Michie Stadium in West Point.
