Tom Reed today announces that New York State Senators George Winner and Cathy Young have endorsed his candidacy for Congress. Winner and Young together represent six of the eight counties of the 29th Congressional District.
“I believe Tom Reed has the background and the ability to win,” commented Young. “We need someone like Tom as our voice in Washington. We’re fighting for fiscal sanity in Albany, and we need a partner in Washington like Tom Reed.”
“Tom Reed truly represents a new beginning for this district in Washington,” Winner said. “Tom is a small businessman who understands the hard work of meeting a payroll and providing a job, and he has direct experience with how the federal government impacts local taxpayers and communities. Tom is the right candidate at the right time.”
Reed called the backing of the two senators very humbling. “I am thankful for their kind words and for the senators’ confidence in me. Cathy Young and George Winner have a track record of putting Western New York first despite the challenge of serving in a legislature dominated by downstate interests. I am honored by the confidence they have shown in standing with me.”
After Democrat Eric Massa's resignation on Monday, the Congressional seat is vacant.
