Alaina Adelaide Hey and Matthew Scott Willson, both of Penn Yan, exchanged wedding vows on July 5, 2009 in a secluded shady grove at the home of Jim and Cindy Willson, the groom’s parents, on Lovejoy Road.
The ceremony was performed by the Rev. David Willson, uncle of the groom.
Alaina is the daughter of Jim and Laurie Hey, 1115 Pre-Emption Road, Penn Yan. She is a graduate of Penn Yan Academy and Alfred University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration. She is employed by Fashion Bug in Claremont, N.H.
Matthew also is a graduate of Penn Yan Academy and State University at Buffalo. He is employed by Sturm, Ruger and Company, Inc., in Newport, N.H.
Hanging flowering plant baskets and a large white wedding arch covered with silk flowers and ivy garlands decorated the grove. Music was provided by Mary Holzhauer on piano; Brittney Stanton on flute and vocalist Renee Heitmann.
The bride’s gown was a white satin halter gown with a pick-up skirt and a kelly green ribbon sash with a jeweled brooch at the waist.
She wore a white heirloom fingertip beaded veil and her bouquet was designed and made by the bride and friends, as were the bridesmaid’s bouquets, groomsmen’s boutonnières and family corsages and boutonnières. The bouquet was 11 white sweetheart roses, lavender, baby’s breath, status and white hydrangeas. - The 12th rose was in the groom’s boutonniere.
She was escorted to the alter by her father.
The maid of honor was Renee Heitmann of New York, a friend of the couple. The bridesmaid was Winsome Hey of Greensboro, N.C., sister-in-law of the bride.
The best man was Ryan Rooks of Bath, a friend of the couple. Groomsman was Travis Willson, of Ohio, brother of the groom.
Ushers were Clint Hey of Greensboro, N.C. and Ben Hey of Winchester, Va., brothers of the bride. The flower girl was Arissa Hey of Greensboro, N.C., niece of the bride.
A reception for 130 guests was held on the Willson family’s lawn under a white wedding tent with fall color-inspired centerpieces of silk flowers designed by the bride.
The couple lives in Claremont, N.H.
