George and Beverley Barnes of Burns Terrace, Penn Yan recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a surprise party held at Paul and Jodie Barnes home in Ontario on Sept. 6.
Friends and family attended the party, which was organized by their children.
Beverley Hefferon and George Barnes were married on Sept. 26, 1959 at St. Stephen’s Church in Geneva in a ceremony officiated by Msgr John Duffy. They first lived on Hamilton Street in Geneva but later moved to Penn Yan, where they raised their family.
Their children are Mary (Thomas) Blind, Marty Barnes, Amy (Neal) Braman, Patty (William) Maher, Joan DiDuro, Paul (Jodie) Barnes, Sharon (Tim) Kuver, Kathleen “Lolly” (Brian Choffin, Matthew (Stefanie) Barnes and Megan (Clint) Condron. They also have 26 granchildren.
