Seneca Lake Masonic Lodge #308 gave awards at the annual Widow’s Night dinner at the Dresden Hotel. The organization honored not only their members, but others who serve the community.
District Deputy Grand Master of the Ontario-Seneca-Yates District George Meyers helped Master John McCormick give out the awards.
Nancy Scher, who was not able to attend, will later be presented with the DeWitt Clinton Award. This is the highest honor that New York State Masons bestow on a non-member. Scher was recognized for outstanding community service, especially in her field of education. Criteria for a recipient is that the person must have demonstrated voluntary service given freely toward truly significant endeavors in the public interest.
The Seneca Lake Duck Hunters Club was given the General Douglas MacArthur Service to Youth Award. President of the organization, Pat House, accepted the award.
Roger Wadsworth was given the Dedicated Service Award which is a recognition obtained from the Grand Lodge of the State of New York. The recognition is for a brother who serves to inspire and motivate others to emulate their examples of true Masonic dedication. Wadsorth was presented with a special apron.
The Aaron Davis Award, a local recognition, was given to Chris Egburtson, as a member who gives time to a local organization. Egburtson is involved with the Boy Scouts of America.
Todd Goddard, Learning Institute Director of the Alzheimer’s Association of Rochester presented a program. He gave an informative talk, including clearing up some common myths about the disease and how people can help friends and relatives stricken with the devastating illness. Goddard formerly served as minister of the Dresden United Methodist Church.
