Penn Yan’s Recreation Director, Dan Doyle, is looking for volunteers to help with the construction of the new Indian Pines Park playground.
Around 30 to 40 community volunteers are needed the morning of June 26 to help build the new playground which will include swings and a slide.

“We definitely need volunteers for the Playground Build Day on Saturday,” says Doyle, adding that the construction should only take a few hours with enough volunteers.

Swimming at Indian Pines and Red Jacket Parks will also open June 26, weather permitting, and all are welcome to come enjoy the new playground and the cool water this weekend.

The swimming hours will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. during June and July, but hours will change in August when daylight hours become shorter.

The playground program for kids will be starting July 6. Children from kindergarten through fourth grade are welcome to participate in the summer program which will include arts and crafts, 4-H presentations, as well as a trip to Seabreeze and even a Rochester Red Wings game.

Construction of the new playground will start at 8 a.m. Saturday and any community member who would like to participate should contact the Recreation Department.

Call 315-531-1567 or email Doyle at ddoyle@villageofpennyan.com.
