The Yates County Democratic Committee hosted the opening of their new campaign headquarters Aug. 27 in downtown Penn Yan. John Plumb (center, foreground), the candidate for Congress running against incumbent Republican Tom Reed, and Leslie Danks Burke (left), the candidate for the N.Y. State Senate running against Republican incumbent Tom O’Mara, were in attendance.

Both Plumb and Danks Burke praised the commitment and the growing numbers and voice of Yates County Democrats. They also agreed in their opposition to hydrofracking in New York, as well as the gas storage proposals near Seneca Lake, and corporate landfills taking waste from outside the area.

Two candidates for Yates County Judge, District Attorney Valerie Gardner and Penn Yan Village Justice Matt Conlon, were also in attendance. They will both appear on the Democratic Party line, as well as the Republican and other party lines, in the Sept. 13 primary.
