The Yates Summer Concerts continue at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 12 at the historic Yates County Courthouse at Main and Court Streets. Featured at this concert will be one of the community’s favorites, the Penn Yan Community Chorus. This free concert is sponsored by two local businesses, Abtex and Coach and Equipment.

Director Jennifer Kramer keeps the momentum going to a positive conclusion that channels into a stunning performance. This group works hard, works well together, and is proud of its fame of performing at New York City’s Carnegie Hall.

Their summer show consists of Broadway and movie themes ranging from My Fair Lady songs, to Disney tunes, and music from the Hobbit and James Bond. They will also bring back some familiar sing-along songs, with which the audience can participate.

If anyone is interested in joining Community Chorus, rehearsals will start the last Monday of September at 7 p.m. at the Penn Yan Baptist Church. The weekly rehearsals culminate in a winter/Christmas concert the first Sunday in December at the Baptist Church.

Bring your own lawn chair. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held in the sanctuary of the Baptist Church. This week the intermission treats will be sponsored by the Friends of the Outlet Trail. For the convenience of those with kids or grandchildren, there is a play time sponsored by the employees of the Penn Yan Public Library and community volunteers from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
