Elsie D’Augustine, 95, of Penn Yan, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at the Penn Yan Manor Nursing Home.

Friends and family may call from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28 at the Townsend-Wood Funeral Chapel, 201 E. Elm St., Penn Yan, where a memorial service to celebrate her life will be held following at 2 p.m. Interment will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Penn Yan.

Elsie was born in the Town of Junius, Dec. 5, 1921, the daughter of the late William and Anna (Verherbrugge) Clarissen. Elsie was the former owner and operator of the Penn Yan Surplus Outlet and the Coffee Den. She was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church and a member of the Penn Yan Moose Club.

Elsie is survived by her daughters Martha (Warren) Johnson of Penn Yan, Patricia Fenton (Norman Robinson) of Penn Yan and Rhonda D’Augustine of Geneva; Five grandchildren, P.J. Allison, Kim (Dirk) Glen, Rick Mosier, Chad Allison (Sue Polizzi), and Kipp Allison (Beth Russell); Seven great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Totman of Lyons. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Jacob D’Augustine Sept. 25, 1992; and her sisters, Anna Tichelarr Backus, Hilda Pettingel Kopf, Shirley Bolby, Cora Durkin, Margaret Reynolds, Melva Lucas, Mary Rounsville, and Johanna Smith.
