Valeria M. Phillips, 83, of Penn Yan passed away peacefully Monday, December 11, 2017 at Penn Yan Manor Nursing Home after a brief illness.

Family and friends called from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 16 at Weldon Funeral Home in Penn Yan. A memorial service followed at noon at the funeral home.

Valeria was born June 16, 1934, a daughter of the late George and Kathryn (Dyke) McCracken. She graduated from York Central School in 1953. Vallee, as she was known to many, was an avid gardener, crafter, camping enthusiast, and loved to converse with family and friends. She provided child care in her home while her children were young, then worked for many years at the Sears Catalog Store. In her later years, she was a home health care provider.

Valeria is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, William; children, Annette (Chip) Braaten of LeRoy, Randy (Kathy) Phillips of Penn Yan, Tina (Michael) Schoeller of Stanley, and Michelle (Jeff) Fairbrother of Branchport; grandchildren, Tom (Ashley) Braaten, Janette (Mike) Braaten, Justin (Jannine) Phillips, Brady Phillips, Colin Phillips, Kristen Schoeller, Nicholas Schoeller, Zak (Caitlyn) Hand, Trevor Hand, Allissa (Cody) Brennan, and Cassandra Fairbrother; eight great-grandchildren, Leah and Annabelle Braaten, Sophia and Everett Phillips, Nadiah Curtis and Mylana Hand, Mia and Sora Brennan; her sister, Linda (Bill) Lubanski; sisters-in-law, Ruth McCracken, Marilyn McCracken, Beverley Widdowson, and Elsie Tayler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Valeria was predeceased by her brothers, Jerald, Roy, and Ronald McCracken.
