The Dresden Fire Department held its annual awards dinner and holiday party Saturday, Dec. 16 at The Dresden Hotel, with Assistant Chief Howard Leach serving as emcee.

Following an excellent meal prepared by Hatter Reynolds, owner of the Dresden, his establishment was recognized with one of the Community Awards, as were Mike, Shawn, and Gregory of Lanphear & Sons Garage, for their services to the department, to Dresden, and to the town of Torrey.

Years of service awards were presented to Bill Updike (50 years) and Chief Warren Zimmerman (30 years) by Frank Clark of the Fireman’s Association of the State of New York. One of the younger members of the Dresden Fire Department, Wendy Aumick, received the First Responders Award, as well as the award for the most training hours throughout the department.

The Chief’s Award was presented to Past Chief Charlie Leach for his lifetime of service, and his wife, Carol Leach, received the Auxiliary Award for hers.

Special guests also recognized at the dinner included Dresden Mayor Bill Hall, Secretary Colleen Riviello, and Trustee Steve Venturino; Town of Torrey Supervisor Pat Flynn, Councilman Burge Morris, and Justice Jean Mashewske; and Yates County Sheriff Ron Spike.
