The Penn Yan Mustang girl’s basketball team improved their Finger Lakes East record to 8-6 with a huge 63-41 win over the Newark Reds on Friday night in Newark. Sydney Bloom led the Orange and Blue offense with 24 points. Hannah Keech added 14 points. Penn Yan improves their overall record to 10-9 with the victory and the Section V tournament rapidly approaching.

Earlier in the week, Midlakes downed Penn Yan 80-48. The Midlakes girls have clinched the Finger Lakes East title. Sydney Bloom topped the Penn Yan scorers with 16 points. Emma Harling added 9 points and also hauled downed 7 rebounds. Joddie Decker chipped in 8 points. Ashley Sisson tallied 6 points and added 8 rebounds. Jenna Curbeau also recorded 8 rebounds and also scored 4 points.

Wednesday night’s Penn Yan versus Midlakes contest was also the “Hoops for Hope” game in Penn Yan. The evening was very positive and productive for the Mustang girls and Penn Yan community raising needed funds for the New Hope Cancer Ministry and local youngster Kira Christensen. Over $3000 was raised during this special night of Penn Yan girl’s basketball. The Penn Yan community once again steps up in a big way!

The HAC Wolves downed Dundee 62-27 in a Finger Lakes West contest played in Brighton on Friday night. The Dundee Scot girl’s basketball team falls to 0-15 in the league and 0-17 overall. MacKenzie Strait tallied 12 points for Dundee in the loss.
