Penn Yan, Dundee, and Marcus Whitman bowlers also compete in Section V

The 2017-18 local high school bowling season came to an end last week. The Section V High School Bowling tournament was held at ATM Gates Lanes in Rochester with the Penn Yan Mustang, Dundee Scot, and Marcus Whitman bowlers competing for Section V honors. The Marcus Whitman Wildcat boy’s squad captured the Class D championship picking up 5142 total pins. The Dundee Scot boy’s team garnered a 5th place finish in Class D. The Penn Yan Mustang boy’s came in 5th place in Class C with a 4919 aggregate score. The Wayne boy’s team won the Class C title with 5404 total pins. They edged out Marcus Whitman for the top small school championship in Section V. Individually, Penn Yan’s Zach Blauvelt registered the highest single game rolling a 245 game.

 On the girl’s side, the Penn Yan Mustang girl’s team finished in 2nd place with 4860 total pins. The Newark girl’s claimed the Class C title picking up 5300 total pins. Marcus Whitman finished in 5th place in Class D while Dundee ended up in 7th place. Penn Yan’s Kari Ayers recorded the second highest series score bowling a 1153. Whitman’s Sydney Davis tallied the second highest single game bowling a 220.

Section V boy’s swimming 

The Marcus Whitman Wildcat boy’s swimming team competed in the Section V Boy’s Swimming Classic on Friday at Bath/Haverling High School. The Wildcat boys finished in 3rd place with 271 team points. Livonia and Avon finished in first and second respectively. Whitman’s Kyle Copper finished in first place in the 100 butterfly event. Zach Dean garnered 2nd place finishes in the 200 free and 500 free events for the Marcus Whitman team. The Wildcat’s 400 freestyle relay team of Zach Dean, Kyle Copper, Jackson Snaith, and Brandon McDonald grabbed the gold in their event. The same Whitman swimming quartet finished in second place in the 200 freestyle relay.
