Yates County Sheriff Ron Spike has issued a community message advising the public there should be no unnecessary travel today due to heavy snow and wires down at various locations. Spike says the travel advisory does not restrict travel. It is a warning to motorists that hazardous driving conditions may exist and that they should reduce speeds being aware of road conditions.

Electric service workers, highway crews, tow operators and emergency rescuers are responding to various calls.

Local closures:

Penn Yan, Dundee, Marcus Whitman, Hammondsport, Prattsburgh, Keuka Lake Schools, Keuka College, and Jerusalem Town Offices are among the closings.

A travel advisory has also been announced in Ontario County.

Updates will be posted at www.Chronicle-Express.com as conditions develop.
