It’s school shopping time again, and Milly’s Pantry is ready to help prepare students for another successful year.

Milly’s Pantry coordinates with schools in the Penn Yan and Dundee areas to acquire and distribute the required supplies for students from kindergarten through twelfth grades. Last year, 340 backpacks were supplied to Dundee students and 540 were given to Penn Yan, Marcus Whitman, Emmanuel Baptist, and homeschool students.

Over 1,500 hours were logged by 47 volunteers in preparing and distributing the supplies. Loretta Corey, the director of the program, is looking for volunteers for this year’s event and is spreading the word to families about distribution days.

In Penn Yan, set up will be Aug. 13 from 9 a.m. to noon, and distribution will be on Aug. 14 from 8 a.m. to noon and 4 to 7 p.m. in the Penn Yan Middle School gymnasium. In Dundee, set up will be Aug. 15 from 9 a.m. to noon, and distribution will be on Aug. 16 from 8 a.m. to noon and 4 to 7 p.m. in the Dundee Central School cafeteria.

This program is also made possible by contributions from the Nord Family Foundation and KanPak. To volunteer or for more information, contact Loretta Corey at 315-694-7350 or 585-330-3598.
