Have a small business or want to start one?
The Finger Lakes Economic Development Center and the Our Town Rocks Project sponsored by the S2AY Rural Health Network has created a new micro-enterprise program for existing and new businesses located in Dundee, Barrington and Starkey.
The program is available to all micro-enterprises, which by definition, are businesses with five or fewer employes. To kick off the program, a competition will be held to pick the top five projects.
The competitive funding round will award the top five projects up to $3,000 per business of which, $1,500 is grant money and $1,500 a loan at a 3% fixed interest for two years. Payments are to be made in monthly installments.
The application round begins on Aug. 9 with a Sept. 7, 2010 deadline.
Each application will be reviewed and evaluated to determine its economic impact by the Our Town Rocks Economic Opportunities Committee.
Anyone that currently owns a business or plans to start a new business is invited to apply, according to Ryan Hallings at FLEDC. Focus industries include: agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, financial and retail.
Applications are available at the Dundee Community Center on Main Street and Finger Lakes Economic Development Center, One Keuka Business Park, Penn Yan.
