Fritz's Polka Band will be back to help kick off Harvest 2010
as Anthony Road Wine Company hosts its annual Federweisser Celebration
Saturday, Sept. 18, from noon to 5 p.m.
Winery co-owner Ann Martini advises visitors to “enjoy the festivities
porch-side, stroll through the garden, have a wine tasting ... whatever your
reasoning, come to enjoy a lighthearted atmosphere and bring the family!”
Festival admission is free, with small fees for food and drink. Anthony Road
Wine Company is situated off Route 14 on the west side of Seneca Lake, about
10 miles south of Geneva.
Besides dancing to Fritz’s Polka Band from Verona in Oneida County, those
attending can enjoy the frothy Federweisser (partially fermented grape
juice), Bratwursts from Rochester's own Ralf's Market, homemade onion pie,
and “real German” potato salad. Winemaker Johannes Reinhardt, in addition to
making the Federweisser, will be making the potato salad as well this year.
Reinhardt, who joined the winery in 2000, is a native of Germany whose
family has been in the wine business since 1438.
Mia, granddaughter of winery co-owners John and Ann Martini, and friends
will have baked goods for sale with proceeds going to the Keuka Comfort Care
Home. Last year she raised more than $100 for the Keuka Comfort Care Home.
