Several clubs, organizations and businesses participated in Penn Yan’s Scarecrow Contest held during the month of October and sponsored by the Yates County Chamber of Commerce.

“Lots of thought and fun went into the planning of the scarecrows that lined the Village streets. Families and visitors stopped to admire and enjoy the many different display,” says Chamber CEO Mike Linehan.

Hundreds of ballots were counted as onlookers cast their votes for their favorite scarecrow. Scarecrows were judged in the following four categories.

Winners and cash prizes are:
 • Best Of Show: Penn Yan Manor,  $100
• Most Creative:Wager’s Cider Mill, $25
• Best Theme: Humane Society, $25
People’s Choice: Bailey, Carr & Co.$ 25.
“Many thanks go out to all those who joined in on the event,” adds Linehan.
