The Penn Yan Boys' Basketball team lost two games last week, one to Waterloo on the road, and one at home to Newark.
The Mustangs lost to the Indians by a score of 65-40. Senior Nate Spoor led Penn Yan with nine points, while classmate Colby Treat had seven points. Waterloo was led by Brad Steinruck's 19 points, and Brandon Frank's 13 points. The Mustangs trailed only 28-24 at halftime but were killed in the third quarter, as they only registered four points while Waterloo nearly doubled their first half output, scoring 26 points. The game was Waterloo's first win of the season.
Three nights later, Penn Yan lost to Newark 68-59. Sophomore Shane Bloom had 19 points, while Spoor added 14. Josh Williams had 19 points while David Stone had 18 points for the Reds. Newark jumped out to a 24-14 1st quarter lead, and the Mustangs were unable to generate a comeback.
