Joseph B. Donahoe, 84, of Penn Yan, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017, at the Penn Yan Manor Nursing Home.

Friends and family may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 26 at the Penn Yan United Methodist Church, 166 Main St., Penn Yan, where a memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. Donations in his memory may be made to the Penn Yan Manor Nursing Home, 655 N. Liberty St., Penn Yan, N.Y., 14527, or to the Penn Yan United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 242, Penn Yan, N.Y., 14527.

Joe was born in Wilmington, Del., Jan. 23, 1933, the son of Helen (Danks) and J. Waldron Donahoe. He was a graduate of Newton High School in Newton, N.J., Delhi Ag & Tech in Delhi, and Cornell University in Ithaca. He came to Penn Yan immediately after graduating from Cornell to become a county agent for Cornell Cooperative Extension. He retired in 1990 after 31 years of service.

In 1984, he received the Distinguished Service Award from the National Association of County Agricultural Agents.

He greatly enjoyed driving, and following his retirement he drove for Coach & Equipment in Penn Yan and volunteered to drive people to appointments and to the airport. He was a member of the Penn Yan Kiwanis Club and the Penn Yan United Methodist Church. He also enjoyed following the New York Mets.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty (Price) Donahoe of Penn Yan; children Mark (Debbie) of Honeoye Falls, Jeffrey of Washington D.C., and Lisa (Bill) Flynn of Gasport; and grandchildren, Taylor and Paige Flynn, and Erin, Megan, Dane and Patrick Donahoe. He also is survived by his sister, Mary Ellen (Joseph) Mooney; sister-in-law, Joan Donahoe; as well as other in-laws and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and brother, David Donahoe.
