Welles Gifford Kubli, 90, of Penn Yan, passed away at home Monday, August 7, 2017.

Friends are invited to calling hours from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 12, at the Weldon

Funeral Home Inc. 102 E. Main St. Penn Yan. An Elks Service will be held at noon. Inurnment in St. Michael’s Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.

Gifford was born Nov. 16, 1926, in Penn Yan, the son of the late Gottfried and Mary Jones

Kubli. He graduated from Penn Yan Academy in 1944. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and the Korean conflict. He worked as a Lineman for NYSEG of Geneva from 1952 to 1983, when he retired. A lifelong resident of Penn Yan, he was very active in several organizations, including the Elks Lodge #1772, the Penn Yan Moose Lodge # 2030, the Penn Yan American Legion, the Penn Yan V.F.W., the Seneca Lake Duck Hunters Association, the Seneca Lake Masonic Lodge #308, and the Corning Consistory. He was a Past President of the KOGA Organization.  “Giff” had a big heart and was always the life of the party, and he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by a brother, Paul Kubli of Penn Yan; two nieces, Deb (James) Tifft of Manlius and Mary (James Humelsine) Kubli of Neptune, N.J.; three nephews, Kurt (Chris) Kubli of Honeoye, Martin Kubli of Penn Yan, Bruce Kubli of Macedon; and several stepchildren, including Judy Rogers Shoff, who helped him faithfully.  

“Giff” was predeceased by a sister ,Margaret Brown in 1993 and her husband, Charles Brown in 2006; his sister-in law Kathryn Kubli in 2003, and his wives, Julia Rogers in 1987, and Mary Rogers in 2011.
