On June 16, 2018, with heavy hearts and great sorrow, we said goodbye to our beloved mom, nana, and aunt, Doris Covert Barcliff, as she went home to our Lord. She was led there by those who’ve gone before her, her husbands, Malcolm Covert Sr. and Donald C. Barcliff; daughter Sherry; grandsons Douglas, Donald, and Jason; and granddaughter Jennifer.

She leaves her sons, Malcolm (Oneita), Jan (Ginger), and Timothy (Mary Jo); nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church, Main St., Penn Yan at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 21. Donations in her memory may be made to the Rainbow Junction, 226 Keuka St., Penn Yan, N.Y. 14527, the Penn Yan Manor, 655 Liberty St., Penn Yan, N.Y. 14527 and The Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090.

Born Doris Lois Polmanteer, this 96-years-young, amazing lady was the founder of the Yates Day Care Center (Penn Yan & Dundee) now the Rainbow Junction, and was often heard to say to many (now adults) “Oh, I had you in daycare.” She was the owner of the popular Gift Tree and was instrumental in organizing StarShine, enjoyed still today.

A lady of great poise and grace, she was an inspiration to all who knew her, loved and adored by her family and many friends.
