Gary L. Pinneo passed away Sunday, September 30, 2018, at Soldiers & Sailors Hospital in Penn Yan.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4 at Weldon Funeral Home, 102 East Main St., Penn Yan, where a memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Penn Yan Theater Company, Yates County Humane Society or the Benton United Methodist Church.

Gary was born Feb. 17, 1951, the son of the late Leland and Vivian Barker Pinneo. Gary was involved in many local community organizations and local sports. he was a longtime baseball coach and on the committee of the Penn Yan Theater Company.

A talented free-lance artist, Gary is well-known for his “Positively Penn Yan” editorial cartoons that were published in The Chronicle-Express for more than 23 years. His 1,000th cartoon was published in December 2017. He also reported on local sports and local history for The Chronicle-Express.

He is survived by one sister; Sharon Dellamore of Baldwinsville; one brother, Michael Pinneo of Penn Yan, three nieces, Leslie Dellamore, Jennifer Cirbus, and Gina (Jeff) Dellamore; one great-nephew Brennan (Andrea) Dellamore; one great-niece, Amanda Dellamore; a great-great-niece, Valerie Plumb.; special friend, Toni Hobart; and his dog, Stella. Gary was predeceased by his parents and his loving pets, Spot, Penny, Snoopy, Vernon, and Fred.
