Kurt F. Peter, 99, of Myerstown, Pa. passed away peacefully at Stoneridge Poplar Run October 7, 2018.

A gathering of immediate family members to celebrate Kurt’s life will be held at a future date. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Penn Yan.

Kurt was born in Irvington, N.J. to Rudolph and Johanna (Ruehle) Peter on July 1, 1919. He attended public schools in Union, N.J. and obtained a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Newark College of Engineering. He married Dorothy Koch on June 6, 1942 at the Emanuel Methodist Church in Newark, N.J.

Kurt served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as an engineer for the Walter Kidde Company for 19 years followed by a position with Eastman Kodak Co., Rochester until his retirement.

Kurt is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; sister, Ruth (Peter) Nitti and brother, Charles Peter.

Kurt is survived by his three children, Diane, wife of Richard Schuster, Wernersville, Pa., Joanne, wife of Gordon Haym, Myerstown, Pa., and Kenneth, husband of Michelle (Filion) Peter, Penfield; grandchildren, Scott, Trish, Jason, Lynn, Elyse, Emily, and Stephen; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family thanks the staff at Stone Ridge Poplar Run and Compassionate Care Hospice for their wonderful care.
