Jean Bernice (Bunny) Knauss Cobbett, 93, passed peacefully in her sleep Thursday, December 6, 2018 at the House of John.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11 at the R.A. Patrick Funeral Home, 26 West Main St., Clifton Springs. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12 at the St. Felix Church, Clifton Springs. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery immediately following the mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the House of John or St. Peter’s Parish in Bunny’s memory.

There will be a reception following the burial at the Phelps American Legion.

Bunny was born April 17, 1925 in Clifton Springs. She graduated from Clifton Springs Central School in 1944 and from Brockport State College in 1948. She married William Cobbett that year, and they had two children, Teresa and James. Bunny taught in Clifton Springs for many years and had wonderful memories of students and colleagues.

Bunny enjoyed sharing a smile and a laugh with all, especially her dear friends and her family. Her affinity for others was seen through her kind words and deeds and her bright smile. Time well spent with her three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren gave her tremendous joy.

She was a member of Clifton Springs Country Club, St. Felix Church and the Phelps American Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary.

Bunny is survived by her children, Teresa (Herb) Carpenter and James (Patricia) Cobbett; grandchildren, Lyndi (Daniel) Mahoney, Benjamin (Heather) Cobbett and Katherine Carpenter; great-grandchildren, Kinley and Easton Mahoney and Nicholas and Daniella Cobbett; and several nieces and nephews.

Bunny was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, William Cobbett in 2017; her parents, Merwin and Mary Knauss; and her brother, James Knauss.
