Erwin W. Dinehart, 91, of Penn Yan, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2010.
The family will receive friends at the Friend Methodist Church from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug.7. His funeral will be held immediately afterwards, with full military honors at Friend Cemetery following.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Penn Yan Manor Nursing Home, 655 N.Liberty St., Penn Yan, NY 14527.
Erwin was born in Penn Yan Aug. 6, 1918, the son of William and Perl (Blakesley) Dinehart. He was a WWII veteran, an active member of the Branchport Volunteer Fire Dept. for decades, bus driver with the Penn Yan Central School District for 28 years, and a farmer in his earlier years.
He is survived by wife Betty (Dunton); sons Dennis (Martha), Kenny (Lisa), Rodney (Jeanie), Keith, Michael and Richard; and daughters Vonda (Frank), Nancy (Terry) and Linda (Colin). He was the grandfather of 22, great-grandfather of 28, and great-great-grandfather of one. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Doris, and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his sisters, Gertrude and Charolette, and his brothers, Levere, Forest, Homer, Peter and Edwin.
