James K. Hey, 52, of Pre-Emption Road, died Sunday, February 14, 2010 at Strong Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Friends may call Thursday, Feb. 18 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, Feb. 19 at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church in Rushville. Rev. Dr. Edward Kennedy will officiate. Burial will be in Rushville Cemetery.

Jim was born in Canandaigua. He was a 1975 graduate of Marcus Whitman Central School. On May 22, 1977, Jim married Laurie Elwell in the Middlesex United Methodist Church. He was the Water and Sewer Department Supervisor for the Village of Penn Yan for 23 years.
Jim was a member of the Penn Yan Moose Club, the Seneca Lake Duck Hunters Club, the Middlesex Conservation Club, the Harley Owners Group, and the New York State Steam Engine Association. Jim collected coins and old toys; and had enjoyed coaching youth basketball. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Jim is survived by his wife, Laurie; three children, Clinton James (Winsome) Hey, Alaina Adelaide (Matthew) Willson, and Bennett Charles Hey; one granddaughter, Arissa Laurie Rena Hey; his parents, Kenneth and Sonia Flynn Hey; one brother, Jeff (Robin) Hey; two sisters, Jill (Casey) Ripley and Joy (John) Schnupp; his father and mother-in-law, Charles and Nancy Moore Elwell; his brother-in-law, Joel (Joane) Elwell and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
