Helen Marie Marcellino Human, 77, of Watkins Glen, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at the Arnot-Ogden Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
Friends and family may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 8, 2010 at the Haughey-Wood Funeral Home, 119 Fifth St., Watkins Glen. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010 at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church, Decatur St., Watkins Glen. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Watkins Glen.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the charity of one’s.
Helen was born in Watkins Glen on May 17, 1932, the daughter of John and Nellie Marcellino. She was a member of the Watkins Glen High School class of 1950. Helen was employed as a telephone operator for ATT&T, the Glen-Baxter Dairy, and as a library clerk for Watkins Glen Central School. She was a past member of the Watkins Glen Elk’s, St. Mary’s Guild, and an active parishioner of St. Mary’s of the Lake Church. She volunteered for many area organizations including Schuyler HospitalAuxiliary, the Chamber of Commerce, the Schuyler County Veteran’s Service Agency. She was a member of the Watkins Glen High School Alumni and a key organizer for the Class of 1950. Helen was a mother and grandmother to many of her families friends and extended relatives.
Helen is survived by her children, Charles Human Jr., Patty (Jeff) Meehan both of Watkins and Brenda (John) Leu of North Carolina; grandchildren, Jeffrey Charles, Marissa Kari, and Katherine Amanda Meehan; a brother, Rocco Marcellino of Watkins Glen; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Helen was predeceased by her husband, Charles L. Human Sr; brothers, Joseph and John Marcellino; sister, Rose Huber and sister-in-laws, Teddie Marcellino and Lucille Marcellino.
