MARJORIE (BRUNT) BAILEY
ALEXANDRIA, VA. — Marjorie (Brunt) Bailey, 92, who resided for the past 18 years at The Fairfax Continuing Care Retirement Community in Ft. Belvoir, Va, died on March 30, 2008.
She will be buried with her husband Colonel William Wise Bailey, in Arlington National Cemetery at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 28, 2008.The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations to the Marjorie B. A homeowner in the Alexandria, Va. area since 1950 and fulltime resident since 1967, she was born May 25, 1915 in Geneva. Marjorie attended Cornell University prior to her marriage. She met her future husband in Penn Yan in 1928. They were married at her home in Penn Yan in June 1937, following Bill’s graduation from the United States Military Academy at West Point.
ELEANOR M. "ELLIE" GLENN
PRATTSBURGH — Eleanor M. ‘Ellie’ Glenn, age 62, of County Road 78, Prattsburgh, died Monday, April 7, 2008 at Keuka Comfort Care Home in Penn Yan.
A memorial service celebrating her life was held at the Greater Grace Church, 9054 Main St., Pulteney on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 2 p.m., with Pastor Larry Slater.

Eleanor was born in Bath on Feb. 27, 1946, the daughter of William and Harriet Soles Bennitt. She had worked for 21 years at the Cummings Nature Center in Naples, NY; where she also volunteered with maple sugaring and skiing. Ellie was a member of The Methodist Church of Pulteney and attended The Greater Grace Church in Pulteney. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in her yard and garden.
Ellie is survived by her mother, Harriet Bennitt of Pulteney; brother, Alfred C. Bennitt of Chandler, AZ; god daughter, Christine Zimmerman of Rochester, nephew, A.J. (Danielle Robbins) Bennitt of Savona; niece, Heidi Wills of Chandler, Ariz.; great nieces and nephews, Corey, Daniel, Korteney, Elysia, Serina, and Haley; step children, Helen (Ron) Minn’s and Henry H. Glenn III both of Alabama. In addition to her father she was predeceased by her husband, Henry Howell Glenn, Jr. on March 16, 2002 and sister-in-law, Connie M. Bennitt on July 28, 2004.

She is survived by five children: Barbara Ann (Bailey) Potter of Lake Mills, Wisc.; Mary Ellen (Bailey) Reese of Missoula, Mont.; Carl Brunt Bailey of Arlington, Va; Elizabeth (Bailey) Kozleski of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and Lynn Bailey of Los Angeles, Calif. Marjorie also leaves four grandchildren, Michelle Elizabeth (Potter) Williams; Victoria Wills (Potter) Murray; Scott Wayne Reese; Heather (Bailey) LaDell; and five great-grandchildren Shawn Bailey Williams; Glenn Richard Williams; Oscar William LaDell; Isabelle Murray; and Ian Potter Murray.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons, Stephen Lewis Bailey and William Arthur Bailey.
FRANK WILLIAM SEARLES
DUNDEE — Frank William Searles, 92, of Dundee, died Friday April 11, 2008 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, in Penn Yan.
There are no prior calling hours. A private graveside memorial service will be held at Hillside Cemetery, in Dundee at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Dundee United Methodist Church, 35 Water St., Dundee, 14837, the Himrod Fire Dept. Himrod 14842, or the Dundee Fire Dept., 12 Union St., Dundee, 14837.
Frank was born December 30, 1915 in the town of Cayuta, the son of the late Judson Joseph “Joe” and Hattie Cornish Searles. A Steam Fitter, he worked at the Philadelphia Navy Yard during WWII. He met his future wife before being transferred to the Chicago Navy Yard; and on Oct. 23, 1943 in Crown Point, Ind. he married the former Ethel M Yehle. They moved back east in 1946; He was employed by Plumbers & Steam Fitters Union Local 267, in Syracuse, retiring in 1979. He and his wife also raised beef cattle and farmed 15 acres of vineyard. Mr. Searles was a member of Dundee United Methodist Church; a Founding Member and Life Member of the Himrod Fire Dept., Life Member of the Himrod Conservation Club, and a member of the Penn Yan Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #2030. He enjoyed hunting and farming.
The last of 11 children, he is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ethel M. Searles at home; three sons, Louis J. Searles of Harrisburg, Pa., Ross E. Searles of Lodi, and Neil W. Searles of Himrod; one daughter Christine M. Heavner of Dundee; seven grandchildren, Ross Searles, Scott Searles, Sarah Searles, Heather (Nick) Sorce, Shawn Searles, Jennifer Searles, and Jeffrey Searles; five great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by a son-in-law, John Heavner, in 2002.

DEBRA A. BENNETT
ONTARIO/HIMROD — Debra A. Bennett, 56, of Ontario, formerly of Himrod, died Friday April 11, 2008 at the Syracuse V.A. Medical Center, in Syracuse.
Friends are invited to call from 11a.m. to noon Saturday, April 19 at the Barrington Community Church 4560 Old Bath Road Dundee, where a memorial service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at noon, with the Rev. Gerald Vanaman officiating. Inurnment with full military honors will follow in Grove Mount Cemetery, Himrod.

Debra was born Feb. 14, 1952 in Penn Yan, the daughter of Leland F. and Ruth Pinneo Knapton. She graduated from Dundee Central School in 1970. She served in the U.S. Air Force from 1971 to 1972. She was a former employee of Hudson St. Daycare, in Webster. Debra was a member of the Ontario American Legion Post 428, the Marion American Legion Auxiliary unit 1430, and the American Legion College of New York Alumni.
She is survived by her mother Ruth P.Knapton of Himrod, a daughter, Sheri Lynn (Donald) Krodinger and two grandsons Luke and Gabriel Krodinger all of DeSoto, Mo; two brothers, Richard (Bill Fenton) Knapton of Rochester, Jack (Pam) Knapton of Kansas City, Mo.; four sisters Patricia (Steve Ostrander) Pellett of Himrod, Sally (Gary) Griffin of Penn Yan, Gail (David) Egburtson, and Nancy Harrison both of Himrod; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by a son Jerry Bennett in 1989, her father Leland F. Knapton on Nov. 1, 2007; a brother Bruce Knapton; and a great niece Alexis Knapton.

DONALD C. VAN HOUSEN
BLUFF POINT — Donald C. Van Housen, 77, of State Route 54A died April 11, 2008 at Bath VA Medical Center.
Family and friends called from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 15 at the Weldon Funeral Home in Penn Yan, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 16 with Larry Widgen officiating.
Burial will be in the Italy Hill Cemetery in the town of Italy.
Memorials may be made to Bath VA Hospice Unit.
Born Feb. 8, 1931 in the town of Italy, he was the son of Floyd A. and Marjorie Conley Van Housen Sr. He was a truck driver for Whitaker Texico for 28 years. He was a 25-year member of the Guyanoga Grange, served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Penn Yan American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Frances; a son, Paul E. (Becky) Van Housen of Penn Yan; daughters Sylvia J. (Mark Ashworth) Van Housen of Naples and Julia L. (Luis Santiago) Van Housen of Rochester; a sister, Judith A. Ventura of Florida; grandchildren Ben C. and Cordero L.; great grandchildren Haven N. Hunter C. and Bryant C. and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his siter, Doris and brothers, Floyd Jr. and Leslie R. Van Housen.
DARLENE C. WARREN
PENN YAN —Darlene C. Warren, 81, of Penn Yan, formerly of Conifer, Colo., died at home on Monday, December 10, 2007.
Friends and family are invited to attend her memorial service at the Benton United Methodist Church in Benton Center on Sunday, April 20, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Carol Pinneo officiating. Interment will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver Colo. at the convenience of the family.
Darlene was born in Milton, Ind. on Oct., 14, 1926 the daughter of the late Earl C. and Clara M. Hall Clingman. She was a graduate of Butler University in Indianapolis, Ind. She retired as a long distance operator from AT&T and traveled the world with her military husband. She was a member of the CWA Local 7777 in Denver, Colo. and the Benton United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her sons, Mark (Wendy) Warren of Penn Yan, and Gary (Nancy) Warren of Evergreen, Colo.; granddaughter, Forest Dawn; great granddaughter, Joy; brother Marvin Clingman of Carmell, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Robert Eugene Warren on April 12, 1996 and her sister, Eltoiole McGuyer and Phyllis Klingman.
