Luella C. Passage, 90, of Penn Yan, died Sunday, January 31, 2010 at the Homestead Nursing Home.

Family and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 4 at the First Baptist Church in Penn Yan. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Baptist Peace Fellowship of North America, First Baptist Church of Penn Yan or Penn Yan Library.

Luella was born Aug. 14, 1919 in Hilton, the daughter of Herbert and Ella Newkirk Collamer. She was a graduate of Brockport Normal School and Buffalo State University. An elementary and junior high school teacher, she taught for 17 years in New YOrk State, beginning with a one room school. Other posts included Shinnecock Indian Reservation School, Southamption, Develan East Pembroke and Keene Valley. As devoted wife and partner of the Rev. Douglas Passage, church women's work was her field of volunteer service.

She was a member of the New York State Retired Teachers Assoc. and past member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and American Association of University Women. In recent years, she served as a leader of the Fellowship Class of Penn Yan First Baptist Church and as a volunteer helper in the church office as well as the Once Again Shoppe. Luella enjoyed reading, travel and needlework.

She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Douglas Passage, two daughters, May Passage of Corning and Gail (Patrick) Thomas of Lindley; two sons, Peter (Susan) Passage of Akron, Pa. and Mark Passage of Lexington, Ky.; three grandsons, Eli and Noah Passage and Christopher Thomas.

She was predeceased by her brother, C. Raymond Collamer.
