Norma Goodman Snyder, 82, of Lincoln Avenue, died February 15, 2010 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital.
Family and friends may call from 3 to 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22 at Weldon Funeral Home, 102 East Main St. Penn Yan. A funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. with the Rev. John Tharp officiating. Burial will be in Bellona Cemetery at a later date. The family has designated Keuka Comfort Care, P.O. Box 107, Penn Yan, NY 14527 for memorial contributions.
Norma was born in Penn Yan on April 25, 1927 to Oliver and Mary Tears Newby. She had been employed at Keuka Cleaners and Sprague Farms in Penn Yan and had worked for Allison's in Geneva. She was a member of the Penn Yan First Baptist Church and a former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose.
She is survived by her son, Douglas Goodman of Penn Yan; her grandson, Kenneth (Emily) Goodman of Buffalo; two granddaughters, Kerry (Chris) Donahue of Webster and Jennifer Goodman of Ontario; step-daughters, Barbara (Donald) Pingleton, Kendall and Patricia (Thomas) Creekmore of Canandaigua; two step-sons, Robert (Gail) Wixom of Livonia and Richard (Nancy) Wixom of Rochester; her brother, Donald (Janice) Newby of Geneva; sisters, Frieda (Ron) Cramer of Geneva and Wilma Bishop of Penn Yan; brother-in-law Bill Mickelsen of Geneva; sisters-in-law Norma Goodman of Honeoye and Emily Goodman of Clifton Springs and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Gary, in 1972, and her husbands, Kenneth Goodman in 1975 and Ralph "Duffer" Snyder in 2009. She was also predeceased by her sister, Gladys Mickelsen and sister and brother-in-law Mildred (Howard) Applebee.
