David R. Lortz, age 65, of the Town of Barrington, died Sunday March 7, 2010 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital in Penn Yan.
In honoring his wishes there are no prior calling hours; a celebration and remembrance of his life will be held at McGregor Vineyard & Winery, 5503 Dutch St., Dundee, NY from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday, March 27.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be greatly appreciated by the family.
David was born February 5, 1945 in Buffalo, the son of Russell T. and Grace Hoff Lortz. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1964-1970. He was employed by the United States Postal Service in Stanley.
In his spare time he enjoyed camping, kayaking, and gardening. An avid art enthusiast and stained glass artist, David was a member of the Yates County Art Association.
He is survived by his only son, Christopher D. (Michele) Lortz of Port Ewen, NY; five grandchildren, Patrick C. Cozine, Sophia Botcher, Ashley, Austin, and Antonia Lortz, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Paul R. Lortz of Tonawanda.
