ELTON "BARNEY" FREDERICKSEN

GORHAM – Elton “Barney” Fredericksen, 87, died March 29, 2008.
Friends called April 4 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home, 2583 E. Main St., Gorham. A funeral service was held Saturday, April 5 at 11 a.m. at the Gorham United Methodist Church. Burial was in Gorham Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers, memorials to Rotary Camp Onseyawa, c/o Bob Buettgens, 1896 Gorham-Hall Rd., Geneva, NY 14456.


Barney was the son of the late Frederick and Anna Jorgensen Fredericksen. He married Glenora Marshall on August 25, 1951 in the Gorham United Methodist Church.


Barney was a retired farmer and was active in several area farm related organizations.

Barney was a lifelong member of the Gorham United Methodist Church. A charter member of the Gorham Rotary Club, he was a former past-president and Paul Harris Fellow. He was a 60 year member of the Rushville Masonic Lodge #377. He was past-president of the board of trustees of the Gorham Cemetery Association.


He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Glenora Fredericksen; daughter, Dr. Sandra L. Everett; sons, Andrew F. (Sandi) Fredericksen, and Eric E. (Mercedes) Fredericksen; sister, Dorothy (Alfred) Harrington; grandchildren, Kristian Everett, Nicholas Everett, Jack Andrew Fredericksen, Dane Fredericksen and Kathy Lopez; great-grandchild, Alex Rae Lopez; and several nieces and nephews.


He was predeceased by a brother, Arnold Fredericksen and three sisters, Elna Toombs, Gerda Shannon and Helen Riley.

GLORIA LOGAN

PENN YAN — Gloria S. Logan, 61, of Shanty Plains Road, died April 6, 2008 at Geneva General Hospital.


Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 9 at Weldon Funeral Home, 102 East Main St., Penn Yan. A funeral service officiated by the Rev. Karen Porch will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 10 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Penn Yan.


Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or the Yates County Relay for Life.


Born Sept. 4, 1946 in Penn Yan, she was the daughter of Seeley James and Cora P. Washburn. She was employed by Yates ARC for 20 years. She was a member of Women of the Moose and was named Woman of the Year by the Business and Professional Women.


She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Jim; daughters, Brenda (Arthur) Parsons, Donna Logan and Kelly (Shawn) Broome; Steve and Heather Neuberger; grandchildren Brendaya, Brooke, Sabrena, Amy, Amber, Nicholas, Brady, Kelsey, Alyssa, Logan, Benjamin, Kaliegh, Gregory and Kendall; great-grandchildren Tyler, Kiarra, Leland, Riahnna, Hailie; several nieces, nephews, close family friend, John Fallon, and many other close friends.


She was predeceasd by a daughter, Sheila Ann, brothers, Gary and Ronnie Washburn and a sister, Patricia.

ROBERT F. MARVIN

MIDDLESEX—Robert F. “Bob” Marvin, 80, died Sunday, April 6, 2008 at Clifton Springs Hospital.


Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 9 at the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 10 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.


Memorial contributions may be made to the Marvin family, 1648 West Ave., Middlesex, NY 14507.


He is survived by his wife, Mary; six daughters, Sally (Dave) Yeoman, Sharon Rought, Carol Rought, Kathleen Williams, Cora (Roger Lead) Marvin, Bobbi Jo (Raymond) Wagner; six sons, Kenneth Marvin, Richard (Grace) Williams, Earl (Brenda Williams), Robert (Deborah) Rought, Carl (Renee) Rought and William Rought; 23 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Carol Smith, Barbara Diffenbach, Ethel (Vernon) Beasley, and Shirley Kennedy; two brothers, Ronald Marvin and Donald Marvin.

DORIS C. SCHERER

PENN YAN  — Doris C. Scherer, 104, of Hamilton Street, Penn Yan died Friday, April 4, 2008 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital.


Doris was born in the Town of Benton on July 25, 1903, the daughter of Guy and Lucille Hobart Coats.  She attended Oneonta College, graduated from Syracuse University in the 1940s and received her Masters Degree at Columbia College. She taught at Geneva Grade School.  Doris was very active and volunteered in various capacities with the hospital, the Historical Society, and the Penn Yan United Methodist Church. 

She was predeceased by her husband, Edward L. “Doc” Scherer in 1992
She will be missed by  her loving family; nephew, Robert (Mona) Behrens; great nephews, Edward (Jill) Behrens, Greg Behrens, Robert (Meghan) Behrens, and William (Carreen) Behrens; Five great great nieces and nephews; cousins, Virginia (Phil) Hymes, Virginia (Jim) Foster, David and Hugh Foster; and many, many good friends.


A memorial service celebrating Doris’ life will be held at later date to be announced.
