Martha Montague Ash

VINE VALLEY —Martha Montague Ash, 77, died after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease on Monday, December 17 at Penn Yan Manor Nursing Home.


There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at a later date and Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Canandaigua.


Contributions in her memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 435 E. Henrietta Road, Rochester, NY 14620.


Martha was a graduate of West High School and St. Lawrence University. Before becoming a devoted mother, she was assistant historian for the City of Rochester. She earned her Masters in Education from Nazareth College and her masters of Library Science at SUNY Geneseo. She retired as a Librarian from Gates Chili High School in 1991.


She had been a member of Lake Avenue Baptist Church in Rochester. She was also a Girl Scout leader, member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and PEO. She enjoyed playing cello, boating, Chinese checkers, traveling with her husband John and her homes in Florida and on Canandaigua Lake.


She is survived by her husband John; son Andrew (Carol), all of Vine Valley; daughters Nancy (Robert) Finger of Cheshire and Alison (James) Price of Naples; grandchildren Spencer, Haley, Michael, Samuel, Benjamin, Abigail and Seth; sisters Ann Faegre of Bethesda, Md. and several cousins.

Olline J. Moore

PENN YAN  — Olline J. Moore, 79, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2007 at the Homestead Nursing Home.


Family and friends may attend her Memorial Service on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007 at the Dresden United Methodist Church at 1 p.m.  Burial will take place in the spring at Bellona Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Olline’s name to the Humane Society of Yates County, P.O. Box 726, Penn Yan, NY 14527.


Olline was born on Aug. 9, 1928 in Yates County, the daughter of Frederick and Christina Lund Jensen.  She graduated from Penn Yan Academy and worked as a secretary at the American Can Company in Geneva.  Olline was a past matron of Amity Chapter #372, OES.


Her husband, Palmer Moore, retired in 1977 from NYSEG and the couple moved to Boca Raton, Fla. where they were active in golf leagues and she was active in Sandalfoot Elkettes #1422.  Olline returned to Penn Yan in 2003 to be near her family.
Olline is survived by her son, John (Penny) McDonald of Barker; grandson, John Jr. of Lockport; sister, Berdine (George) VanSickle of Penn Yan; brothers, DeForrest Jensen of Canandaigua and Kendall (Marion) Jensen of Penn Yan; 12 nieces; 14 nephews; stepson, Palmer Moore of Ohio; stepdaughter, Marlene (Greg) Ouellette of Maine; and four step grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her loving husband, Palmer Moore in 1993 and five brother, Harold, Maurice, Russell, Frederick and Gifford Jensen, all of Penn Yan.

Donald E. Olsen

BENTON CENTER — Donald E. Olsen, 93, died Tuesday, December 18, 2007.


A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at Sandhill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Make A Wish Foundation of WNY, Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 97104, Washington, D.C. 20090-7104.


Mr. Olsen was the son of the late Chris and Caroline Jensen Olsen. He was a retired farmer. He loved fishing and enjoyed Keuka Lake.


He is survived by two daughters, Donna (James) Minns, and  Sarah (Max) Stachura; one son, David Olsen; 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.


He was predeceased by three wives, Margaret Benson Olsen, Dorothea Loman Olsen, and Marjorie Swick Olsen; his daughter, Carol Ann Olsen; and siblings, Carl, Hilma, Clarence and Bernice.
