HIMROD — Charles S. Van Voorhis, 90, of Long Bow Trailer Park, died at The Homestead on March 15.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, March 20 at Weldon Funeral Home, 102 East Main St., Penn Yan.
There will be no funeral service. Burial will be at Boughton Hill Cemetery in Victor.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Born in Hopewell on Feb. 26, 1918, he was the son of Albert M. and Judith Dayton Van Voorhis. He was a mental health aide at the Canandaigua VA Medical Center for 29 years.
He was a member of the Amateur RAdio Club in Canandaigua.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, June; a daughter, Amy (Alan) Isacson of Calif.; a daughter-in-law Donna Van Voorhis  of North Carolina; sisters Nellie D. and Judith K. Van Voorhis, both of Niskayuna; sister-in-law Carol (David) Quagliata of Newark, grandchildren Gail (Robert) Dawson of North Carolina and Marcia (Doug) Van Gelder of Florida; four great grandchilidren; three nieces and a nephew.
He was predeceased by a son, Roy, in 2004 and a sister, Margaret Kmieciak. 

PENN YAN — Robert J. Larder, 83 of East Main Street, Penn Yan died Sunday, March 16, 2008 peacefully at home.
Friends and family may call at the Townsend-Wood Funeral Chapel, 201 East Elm St., Penn Yan on Thursday, March 20, 2008 from 11a.m. to 2 p.m.  His funeral service will be held immediately following at the funeral home at 2p.m. 
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial donations be made to The Humane Society of  Yates County, Shelter of Hope, 1216 State Route 14, Penn Yan, NY  14527.
Robert was the first birth born at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital on June 15, 1924, the son of  George and Edith Harris Larder. 
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and retired after 29 years of service in the U.S. Army Reserves.  He was a line foreman for NYSEG and retired after 39 years.  He was a life member of the VFW, Moose Lodge and Lions Club.  He was also a member of the American Legion for over 75 years and the Seneca Lake Duck Hunters.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Marjorie Coons Larder; daughters, Patricia (Ron) Cass of Brooksville, Fla., Barbara Fonti of Spencerport, and Jennie Larder of El Paso, Texas; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; sister-in-law Virginia Larder of Penn Yan; and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his first wife, Jennie Smith Larder, and his brother, William ‘Bill’ Larder.

PENN YAN — Ronald L. Hurlbert, 55 of Penn Yan died March 13 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital.
Family and friends called from 11 a.m. to noon Monday, March 17 at Weldon Funeral Home in Penn Yan, where a funeral service was held at noon Monday, March 17. Burial was in Lakeview Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Born Jan. 5, 1953 in Penn Yan, he was the son of Lee and Eleanor (Smart) Hurlbert.
He worked at Penn Yan Boats and CASP LLC in Penn Yan and loved to fish, shoot pool and play cards.
He is survived by his wife Alesia, a son, Ronald L. Jr. of Penn Yan, daughters Angel Hulbert and Donna Allison, both of  Penn Yan; brothers David (Kathy) Hurlburt of Potter, Bruce (Sharon) Hurlbert of Rushville, and Dennis (Judy) Hurlburt of Gorham; and grandchildren Tyler Hurlbert, Jarrod Sheppard and Derek Allison.

PENN YAN — Cecilia M. Helbig, 80, of East Lake Road, died March 15 at her home.
Friends and family may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 19 at Weldon Funeral Home, 102 East Main St., Penn Yan. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 20 at St. Michael’s Church with Father Peter Clifford officiating. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Penn Yan.
Memorials may be made to Ontario-Yates Hospice or St. Michael’s School.
Born May 10, 1927 in Malone, she was the daughter of Adolphus J. and Lillian H. Stone Malette.
She was a nurse in the U.S. Army, a Communicant of St. Michael’s Church, and a member of the Penn Yan American Legion and Penn Yan Elks Club.
She is survived by her sons, Roger W. (Elizabeth) Helbig of Richmond, Calif., Carl D. Helbig of Farmington, Paul A. (Krystal) Helbig of Houston, Texas; daughters Alice (Albert) Starckler of Binghamton and Martha Philippone of DuBois, Pa.; a sister, Doris Curtin of East Rochester, several neices and nephews including James L. Robideau of Penn Yan, Lynne Tyler of Geneva, Phyllis Robideau of Georgia and Mary (Stanley) Wexler of Pennsylvania.
She is also survived by her helper angels, Tracey, Kelly, Amy, Catie, Dorissa, Janet and Tonia.
She was predeceased by her husband, Roger W. Helbig in 1997, five brothers and one sister.

SAN ANGELO, TEXAS — H. Dave Gottshall died Sunday, March 9.
A service celebrating his life was held Thursday, March 13 at Johnson Funeral Home in Texas.
Memorials may be made to the building fund for Immanuel Baptist Church or Meals for the Elderly.
Born March 26, 1934 in Corning, he served in the Marines in the early 1950s. After moving to San Angelo in 1953 he worked in radio for many years, including the first FM stereo station in San Angelo.
He was Executive Director of the West Texas Boys Ranch for nearly 20 years.
He contributed his time and resources to the local board for the American Cancer Society, The Optimist Club and Christmas in April.
After retiring from the West Texas Boys Ranch, he helped start the Women’s and Children’s House which is now called Sara’s House. In his post-retirement years, he worked as a broker for Edward D. Jones and Zesch and Pickett.
He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Gerri, whom he married on Sept. 11, 1954; their children Janice Gottshall Whipple of San Angelo, Texas and H. David Gottshall Jr. of Essex, Vt.; three grandchildren; sisters Dorothy Rowan of Michigan, Judy Jewell of Florida; brothers Jerry Gottshall of Nacogdoches, Texas and Danny Gottshall of Georgia. His surviving family in New York includes Elsie Tousley of Penn Yan and Fern Walter of Vestal, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Ross Gottshall.

PENN YAN— Robert C. Flynn,  87, of Hamilton Street, Penn Yan died Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at Soldier’s and Sailor’s Hospital in Penn Yan.
Family and friends called on Friday, March 14 from 4  to 7 p.m. at the Townsend-Wood Funeral Chapel, 201 E. Elm St., Penn Yan.  Robert’s service was on Saturday, March 15 at St. Michael’s Church in Penn Yan at 11 a.m. with Father Robert Ring officiating.  Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.  Memorials may be made in Robert’s name to Penn Yan Volunteer Ambulance, PO Box 272, Penn Yan, NY 14527 or St. Michael’s School, 214 Keuka St., Penn Yan, NY 14527.
Robert was born on Nov.5, 1920 in Rochester, the son of the late Dr. Jeremiah and Anna McGuire Flynn.  He was a Paratrooper in WWII Army 17th Airborne Division.  Robert spent 27 years as a truck driver for Penn Yan Express.  After his retirement, he became involved in many things.  He was one of the Co-founders and the President of the Penn Yan Volunteer Ambulance Corp., the President and Chairman of the Board for the FL Regional EMS.  He was on the Board of Directors for Willard Psychiatric Center, Elmira Psychiatric Center and Soldier’s & Sailors Memorial Hospital.  He was a member of St. Michael’s Church, Penn Yan Ambulance, VFW and American Legion.
Robert and Thelma were the 1998 Recipients of the Don and Cory Stork Community Award.
Robert is survived by his wife of 61years, Thelma Vogel Flynn; children, Robert “Rob” J. Flynn of Fulton and Nancy (David) Middleton of Honeoye Falls; grandsons, Steven Flynn, Carter Middleton and William Middleton; sister, Joan Rogers of Elmira, NY, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  He was predeceased by his daughter, Susan Elizabeth Flynn in 1960.

PENN YAN — David W. Clarke, 82, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at the Penn Yan Manor Nursing Home.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service at the Townsend-Wood Funeral Chapel, 201 East Elm St., Penn Yan on Thursday, March 20, 2008 at 11a.m., with Rev. John Busch officiating.
David was born in Sinclairville on December 19, 1925, the son of Welcome E. and Winifred Greene Clarke.  He grew up in Ovid and graduated from Ovid Central School and Cornell University in 1952 with a degree in chemical engineering.  He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1948.  He retired as a chemical engineer for Boeing Co. in Seattle, Washington.  David is survived by his companion, Cholena Eaton; brother, Alan Clarke of Glenwood, Md.; and sister, Barbara Merritt of Cornwell on the Hudson.
