To the Editor:
Enclosed is a copy of a letter sent to ADA Jason Cook. I want to share this invitation with the voters of Yates County.
Dear Assistant District Attorney Cook:
Congratulations on your recent win in the primary elections.
As you know, I will be appearing on the Nov. 3 ballot as an Independent, on the “Common Sense Justice Party,” line for which any registered voter, regardless of party affiliation, can vote.
As you stated in one of your ads “The stakes are too high in this election to be just another political popularity contest” and I agree whole-heartedly. In anticipation of the upcoming election, I feel it is important that the people of Yates County get to know their next District Attorney. It is in this spirit that I challenge you to a public debate.
The courtesy of a response prior to Oct. 5 will be greatly appreciated, because it is only fair to the citizens of Yates County that this debate be held as soon as possible.
Again, congratulations on your primary win. I look forward to a vigorous exchange with you in the weeks ahead leading up to the general election. It is exactly this type of dialogue that keeps a democracy healthy!
