I'm writing this letter to the editor to add some clarification to last week's article about the election.
I have learned a lot through campaigning and have gained a better insight into what the people of Yates County want and need. Even though I stated to the reporter that no matter who wins in District II the people will receive good representation, I believe that I can bring something to the county that is currently lacking — a strong background in economic development and tourism to bring in more sales tax dollars, combined with a businessman's eye on cost reduction where possible. The long term goal is to relieve some of the tax burden for the Yates County taxpayers. Nobody can argue with that.

I resigned from the board of the Yates Coalition for Responsible Goverment ( YCRG ) before starting my campaign for Legislature, thereby removing the appearance that I may in any way be unduly influenced by any group. I still believe in the YCRG and in their pledge that I helped write.  This non-partisan group brings up issues that make the public think and helps keep the legislators sharp.

I will be running as an Independent on Nov. 3, on my own strong beliefs, as a member of C.A.S.T.- Candidates Against Spending and Taxation.,and continuing to support YCRG.
