The Penn Yan Mustang cross country teams found their new home course to their liking Tuesday. Both the girl’s and boy’s cross country teams scored wins against Red Creek and Red Jacket. The Mustang girl’s defeated Red Jacket 21-35 and Red Creek 26-30 to improve their record to 5-1. Penn Yan’s Maci Nicholson finished in first place while teammates Jaina Doyle and Gracie Murphy came in 3rd and 4th respectively. Maci Nicholson sports a perfect 10-0 individual record this season.

In the boy’s competition, the Orange and Blue runners defeated Red Creek 26-29 and Red Jacket 21-35. They are 6-4 this season. Ben DeMoras garnered a 2nd place finish for the Mustangs in this event. Ayden Moury and Peyton Silliman came in 4th and 5th respectively.

The Mustang harriers will travel to North Rose/Wolcott Oct. 3 for their next competition against Williamson, Geneva, and host NR/W.

Marcus Whitman 19 Midlakes 40

The Marcus Whitman Wildcat cross country team picked wins at Midlakes Sept. 26. The meet featured runners from other schools but Whitman and Midlakes were the only two teams to run complete teams. The Marcus Whitman girl’s team defeated Midlakes 19-36. Allie Harford finished in 2nd place while teammate Amanda Cline garnered a 3rd place finish. In the boy’s competition, Whitman’s Gabe Stash was the first place winner. Aidan Royston and Liam Prendergast came in 2nd and 5th place in the competition. The Wildcats scored a 19-40 win over Midlakes to win the overall meet.

Marcus Whitman competed in the McQuaid Invitational Cross Country meet in Rochester Sept. 30. Whitman’s Gabe Stash finished in 6th place in the boy’s meet. The Whitman boy’s garnered a 10th place finish overall. Allie Harford was the top Marcus Whitman girl runner, coming in 110th. The Whitman girl’s team finished in 25th place.
